Printers: Which Inkjet Printer should I Buy?

Many Ink Jet printers will work but some lower-end consumer printers will not accept a "clear" film.  They have a print feeder sensor which will not detect transparent film. In our experience printer salespeople don’t have a lot of knowledge in this area.

In the graphic print world, the Epson family is the preferred manufacture. The more common small scale printer that shops use is the Epson HD XP-15000. Without getting too technical on you, the Epson HD XP-1500 Inkjet printer uses a Piezo print head which is the preferred print head in the graphics industry.

It has the advantage of being able to take sizes up to A3 sheets, so serves you well when you want to print larger art files and office posters.

Printer Settings

What is critical is that you find the print setting that will best provide the most print opacity. You should take the time to adjust printer settings to get the best, most opaque result from your inkjet printer.

Choose the right inkjet print film for graphics production

The magic is in the print film's nano-coating, which allows the ink to absorb. Not all inkjet films are ideal for creating graphic art transparencies. Many Inkjet films are designed to be used with projectors for presentations etc.

You will get the best results from graphics industry specific Inkjet film such as the ProBlast Inkjet film product. If you switch films you will need to go back to your printer settings and run tests to make sure you are getting the best result.

Use Good Quality Ink

We recomend sticking with the printer brands ink for the best result. You can buy cheaper generic inks but in our experience this can be unreliable and not produce the best result. Remeber, the better quality the film positive you produce the faster processing will be and higher quality stencils will be achieved. Don't skimp on cheap ink for the sake of a few dollars.
